Watch the Kō Video to learn more about Kō and Executive Chef, Tylun Pang.

Many recognize Chef Pang for his participation in the Best Hotel Chefs of America Series at the James Beard House in New York, or for his award-winning cuisine throughout the Hawaiian Islands. But in Maui’s small community, Pang’s commitment to perpetuate Hawaiian culture, his dedication to local agriculture, his unwavering devotion to the island’s culinary school and his sincere mentorship of future chefs is what sets him apart.

In 2010, Chef Pang published his award winning cookbook, entitled What Maui Likes to Eat. The book, available both nationally and across the island, has sold over 10,000 copies to date. To further support young Maui chefs, Pang chooses to donate 100% of the book’s proceeds to the Maui Culinary Academy for supplies, scholarships and books.

Executive Chef Tylun Pang was recently presented with the coveted 2012 Friend of Ag award by Maui Mayor, Alan Arakawa. This special award, provided by Maui County Farm Bureau and Maui No Ka Oi Magazine, recognizes one Maui chef per year who goes above and beyond to support local agriculture.

Chef Pang sources from over 16 island farmers for Kō restaurant, resulting in over 85% of the produce served at Kō being locally grown.
